Malaysia
will experience a leading exhibition and conference
with international flair come September as Multimedia
Asia 2000 (MMA’2000) is set to take the industry by
storm. Held from the 28th ~ 30th September at the
Putra World Trade Centre, MMA is now in its 5th successful
year. Organised by the National IT Council (NITC)
of Malaysia with the co-operation of public, private
and community interest sectors, MMA is known as the
official presentation of the largest Information-Communication
Technology (ICT) conference and exhibition in Asia.
This year, MMA will focus on the much talked about
Knowledge Economy developments, appropriately themed
"Towards a Knowledge Economy: Risk, Realities and
Rewards". While past events centered on the MSC, the
paradigm shift this year aims to bring the industry
to a better educated level in terms of research and
development in today's world of fast-paced evolving
technology. This is in line with Malaysia’s move towards
Vision 2020 and the recovering economy. The shift
indicates the migration of the nation from concepts
to practicalities.
The
move towards K-Economy enables the broadening of the
scope of information and communication technology
(ICT) and multimedia to be used as a tool to evolve
the MSC as a platform for further progress. The main
objective of MMA will remain in that it will act as
an international level conference and exhibition to
cover areas which include the developments and contribution
of the MSC initiative and the migration of the existing
industrial economy towards a smooth transformation
to a K-Economy. MMA will focus on being more business
or econocentric with a view to the regional and international
arena.
